Dr Brita Pekarsky

Consultant Health Economist
Real Talk. Real Change.

Dr Brita Pekarsky has worked as a health economist since 1991 and prior to that, five years as a financial economist. Her practice covers continuity of care, pharmaceuticals, mental health, ambulance services, health financing, clinical trials, mathematical modelling, data analysis and visualisation, accountability and game theory.  She loves numbers.

Every year for the last 28 years, she has worked on at least one project for and with First Nations people, and for around seven of these years, health care for First Nations people was her focus.

In 2025, she went back to school to spend two years studying to qualify as an Early Childhood teacher. She was inspired by the three years she spent working for and with First Nations women from around Australia on a project to strengthen the continuity of care for First Nations children under five and their mothers.

She continues to work as a consultant health economist and hopes to combine this practice with preschool teaching for years to come.

She is often found cycling through the streets of Adelaide, with hip hop blaring from her speakers.
